John Bryan "Jack" Pennington Died December 16, 2013 - Preceded by his Wife, Fran Pennington d. 2012

I received a message a couple of weeks ago from Terry Pennington that his Father, John Bryan "Jack" Pennington, died December 16, 2013 at the age of 93.  He also told me that his Mother, Fran Pennington, had died in April, 2012.  I did not know of Fran’s passing nor of Jack’s until receiving this message.

Jack and Fran were long time Members of the PRA.  I first met them at our Reunion and Membership meeting in Seattle, WA, in 1991.  Jack and Fran were both active with the PRA for many years until their health failed them.

Here is the obituary information Terry shared with us.

John Bryan "Jack" Pennington died December 16, 2013 in Lynnwood WA.  Born in Everett, WA on April 24, 1920, Jack was raised with his sister in Clinton where his parents and grandparents were early homesteaders.  He graduated from Langley High School in 1938, joined the Army in 1941 and married Frances Snyder in 1945. Upon discharge they moved to North Seattle where he worked for Acme Fast Freight and Westransco while raising two children. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years in April, 2012 and is survived by his sister, Donna Sines (Rex), children Vivian Kean (Rodney) and Terry Pennington (Deanna), five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Terry added:

They were very active in PRA for many years until old age got the best of them. We moved them to an "independent living" place in 2011 due to the fact that their condo was on the second floor with no elevator. Stairs only. My mom didn't last there very long before she fell and broke a hip, or her hip broke and dropped her to the floor. Either way she didn't survive the rehab due to morphine and blood clots and other complications. She was getting pretty senile as well.

My dad kept his sharp mind until the very end. At least when he wasn't dozing. Coming in and out of dreamland he said some pretty wild things but when wide awake he was fine.

Both will be missed.
